Buildings and Gardens

If you follow the historic footpath from Weggis in the direction of Rigi-Kulm, you will first encounter the Felsentor animal shelter, which is located around the old Stöckalphütte. A little further up, after a bend in the path, the view suddenly opens up to the lake and the varied panorama of the foothills and higher Alps in the background.
Exactly at this point, the Felsentor garden café with its pavilion and sunny garden terrace in the shade of large fir trees invites you to linger on the left; on the right, the hiking trail is flanked by a historic mountain hotel built in 1869 and carefully renovated when the foundation was set up. Surrounded by a garden for flowers and medicinal herbs, it now serves as the seminar center’s guest house.
In the background of the complex, hardly visible from the path, the Zendo (meditation building), newly built in 2004, is a Far Eastern counterpart to the historic guesthouse, modelled after Japanese Zen temples. Its special charisma envelopes the people who come together here to find silence, with its elegant simplicity, the natural materials and the special scent of wood in a dignified way. It is embedded in a meditative Zen garden, which invites visitors to pause and contemplate and gives the place an atmosphere of peace, silence, harmony and beauty.

With room for about 30 course guests, our premises offer a relatively familiar setting for various retreats. In addition to the beautiful dining hall with with a majestic view of Lake Lucerne and the Alps, a cosy library and our garden café are available to all our guests. You will be accommodated either in a double or single room in the stylish historic guest house (with wood floors, comfortable beds and fine details), or in one of the two dormitories in the newly built meditation building (Zendo), which are equipped with Japanese-style tatami mats and futons.

As a place of spiritual practice, the furnishing of our rooms is deliberately kept simple. Our rooms have neither radio nor television. Showers and toilets are located in the guest house on each floor. In the Zendo building there are Japanese style washrooms with toilets; the showers in the guesthouse can be shared at any time. Bed linen and towels are provided by the guesthouse.
